Privacy policy

Effective 1 November 2026. LinkedOut is run by Anish Biswal, India.

This policy is our notice to you under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. It says what we collect, why, who can see it and what you can do about it.

Two identities, one account

LinkedOut gives you two identities. Your Public identity is your real profile. Your Anonymous identity is an alias, with its own feed, network, messages and settings. Other members can't connect the two, and nothing you do in one world shows in the other.

WhoPublic identityAnonymous identity
Other membersYour name, photo, headline, career and verified badge, as you set them, and your activityYour alias, its animal, its industry and experience band, any company or industry badge, and approximate times such as "this week"
Your employerWhat any member can seeThe same as any member. We never tell employers who an alias is
Our moderatorsReported or held content, with your nameReported or held content, with the alias only

When an alias can be linked to you

The link between your account and your alias is stored encrypted, apart from everything else, and every lookup is logged. We can read it only for safety cases, such as threats or strikes applied to the person behind an alias, and to comply with a valid legal order. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't sell it or share it for any other reason.

What we collect, and why

DataWhy
Email address, or your Google account's email and nameTo sign you in and send account messages
Profile details and career history you addTo show your Public identity
Posts, comments, reactions, polls, photos, connections, follows and savesTo run the service
Direct messagesTo deliver them. They are encrypted when stored
Work email, only if you verify oneTo give you a badge. We keep the domain and a one-way hash of the address, never the address itself
Device token for notifications, and a Google Play integrity resultTo send notifications, and to reduce spam and fake accounts
Crash reportsTo fix faults. They hold device and app details, and no name, account id or alias
Messages to supportTo help you. A ticket from Anonymous carries only your alias

Automated safety checks

Posts, comments and direct messages are checked automatically for personal data, threats, hate, spam and scams. This is done by automated rules today, and may be done by an AI service provider we name here before it starts. A post may be held for a person to review. A direct message that fails the check is still stored, and its receiver sees a safety card first. People see a direct message only if it is reported to us.

Who we share data with

We use service providers who process data for us: Supabase (database, storage and login), Google Firebase (notifications and crash reports), Google Play (integrity checks), and Resend (email). We don't sell personal data, and we don't use advertising or analytics SDKs. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. If you delete your account, it is deleted after 30 days, as described on Delete your account. Backups age out on their own schedule.

Your rights

You can see, correct and delete your data, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to act for you if you die or can't act. Most of this is in the app under Account settings, including Download your data, which emails you a link to a copy of your data from both identities. Withdrawing consent means deleting your account, because the service can't run without this data. If you are unhappy, contact our grievance officer below; you can then complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Age

LinkedOut is for people aged 18 or over.

Grievance officer

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app first.
